Top 11 Aftermarket Fads We All Could Have Done Without

Ok sure, some of these aftermarket mods may have been cool at some point or another, but we think we’re all in agreement that we could have done without them. If we missed any (or if you’re still rockin’ one of these looks), let us know in the comments for a chance to win a classic car mod that never gets old.

  1. Bullet Hole Decals. May attract actual gunfire.
  2. Super-Faux Motion Spinners
  3. UFO-esque “Tractor Beam” Underglow
  4. Dubs, Dub Deuces, or 24s…Compensating much?
  5. Chameleon Paint Jobs. Just pick a color and live with it!
  6. Oversized, Coffee Can Exhaust Tips
  7. Excessive Body Kits. Mo’ “show” than “go.”
  8. Bogus Blow Off Valves. That sound doesn’t make it go faster, ya know.
  9. “Billet” everything. The 90’s called…
  10. Not-So-Futuristic-Looking Carbon Fiber Accents

Aftermarket Fads Number One

We admit it. We may have had a few of these items on our cars in our youth. Until we realized that they were unnecessary “extras” that only added pretense without improving performance. If that’s what your current marketing agency relationship feels like, it may be time for Plan B – the lean, mean Agency Alternative. We won’t just stick pretty decals on your marketing. We’ll supercharge it.

  1. Gotta love the luxury fad of having wipers on headlights. Really? The rest of the world got by just fine without them.

  2. To everyone who has ever felt like switching out their factory warm white headlights for the “true white” option—thanks for blinding me.

  3. Huge aftermarket box spoiler on cars that really don’t need spoilers. Who is doing this? Doubly so for pick-ups.

    1. Dubs, dueces, 24s are so Millenial. Lets go with Donks… 30+ inches.

And for tighter budgets: Stick-on faux Buick portholes. They look particularly good on clapped out 17 year old minivans.
